Harry L. You is Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development of EMC Corporation. With revenues of $20 billion in 2011 and more than 53,000 people worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyze their most valuable asset – information – in a more agile, trusted, and cost-efficient way.
You oversees EMC's corporate strategy and new business development, which includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and venture capital activity. He is also in charge of certain operational efficiency and growth activities as co-chair of the Investment and Operations Committee (with EVP and CFO David Goulden). He joined EMC in March 2008 and reports to Joe Tucci, EMC's Chairman and CEO.
Previously, You was CEO of BearingPoint, a leading IT and management consultancy with more than17,000 employees in 60 countries. Before that, he was CFO of Oracle Corporation, helping begin Oracle's acquisition run with the takeovers of Peoplesoft and Retek. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of Oracle Japan. From 2001 to 2004, he was Chief Financial Officer of Accenture, helping take the company public and leading the company to 35 percent annual free cash flow growth. He spent fourteen years on Wall Street, culminating as a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley. There, he headed up the Computer and Business Services Group, originating and executing $200 billion of M&A and underwriting transactions.
You has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Harvard and a Master of Arts in Economics from Yale. He is a member of the Yale School of Management Advisory Board and a member of the Board of Directors of Korn Ferry International, the world's largest executive search firm.
