Backup Management
Data growth and the operational complexity introduced in an effort to deal with it have stretched many IT management organizations to the limit. Not only are IT groups constantly called upon to do more with the same or less staff, but they also need to tightly coordinate more and more operational activities across multiple technology experts and work teams.
It's ESG's contention that implementing management and control tools, such as data protection management, can allow operational staff to gain more visibility into, and control over, interrelated layers of technologies. Reducing the number of backup applications in an environment by moving to enterprise backup applications that combine traditional and next generation technologies also promises to reduce complexity and costs by eliminating islands of backup administration.
